With the objective of articulating all the Butantan Institute's initiatives related to teaching, the School of Higher Education of Instituto Butantan – ESIB was created by decree on December 27, 2018. The School carries out the actions and activities outlined in its area of operation through the triad: Scientific Knowledge (Teaching and Research), Biotechnological Development, and Public Health Mission.
Since its founding in 1901, scientific research has been the foundation of the Institution, working in conjunction with other areas of knowledge: from the cultural field, through scientific dissemination; basic and applied research, for the training of new professionals and studies across the most diverse areas of scientific knowledge and Public Health; to the development and production of immunobiologicals supplied to the Unified Health System (SUS).
The Butantan Institute invests in the dissemination of knowledge and the training of professionals through: scientific initiation programs, supervised internships, Graduate Programs in Toxinology in the academic Master's and PhD modalities, professional Master's programs, Specialization in Health (in collaboration with CEFOR), and Specialization in Vivarium Management (the first of its kind in the country), in addition to promoting non-degree courses for scientific dissemination and university extension, all coordinated by the School of Higher Education of Instituto Butantan – ESIB.
